  • What is Borealis?
    • Borealis, the Canadian Dataverse Repository, is a bilingual, multi-disciplinary, secure, Canadian research data repository, supported by academic libraries and research institutions across Canada. Borealis supports discovery, management, sharing, and preservation of Canadian research data.
  • Why the name Borealis?
    • Borealis is Latin for “northern” and demonstrates a close connection to the Canadian landscape and the aurora borealis, drawing on the metaphor of a dynamic, active phenomenon that expands across and connects the country.
  • Is anything changing about the service itself?
    • The name and appearance of the repository are changing, but the core service remains the same. Borealis is still the place where you can store, share, publish and discover research data. You’ll still be working with the same data and RDM specialists at your institution, and the same technical support and infrastructure
