Borealis has released a new statement with Guidelines for Sensitive and Confidential Data Deposit and a Checklist for Human Data, to support ethical and compliant data deposit and sharing in the repository.
The guidelines and checklist are in alignment with the current Borealis Terms of Use and aim to provide clarity and transparency about recommended practices at research institutions in Canada for the deposit of sensitive and confidential data in the Borealis repository.
We encourage institutional administrators and researchers to use the guidelines and checklist when reviewing best practices to apply to research data, helping to guide users to assess their data before deposit and align with institutional policies and standards. The checklist is also available as a PDF on SPOTDocs.
For help with deposit and sharing, please contact your Borealis partner institution.
We want to thank the collaborative team and Borealis member institutions for providing valuable feedback during the development of these resources over the past year. Community feedback continues to inform ongoing infrastructure improvements for managing sensitive and confidential data in Borealis.
