Borealis demo was successfully upgraded to version 6.8 on November 5, 2025. As a reminder, the Borealis production upgrade is scheduled for Wednesday November 19th (downtime expected all day 9am - 5pm ET).
Feel free to begin testing the upgrade and any new features in the Borealis demo sandbox environment.
This upgrade brings many new features, including:
- Newly renamed ‘Preview URL’ (formerly ‘Private URL’)
- Improved institutional collections anonymity for ‘Anonymous Preview URL’
- New ‘Version Note’ feature to allow depositors to add a version note when publishing
- New 3D Metadata Block for describing 3D data
- Curation Status Labels improvements for viewing status history, including tracking who created statuses and when, and enhanced CSV reports
- New separate permissions and roles for ‘Linking Datasets’ and ‘Linking Collections’
- New ‘Unlink Dataset’ button has been added to linked datasets
- New APIs
- Bug fixes and more!
