Nous souhaitons partager des nouvelles importantes concernant les changements au sein du Comité directeur de Borealis (CDB). 

Le CDB tient à adresser ses sincères remerciements à ses membres sortants : Caroline Hyslop, bibliothécaire universitaire associée aux Services de recherche de l’Université d’Ottawa et ancienne représentante du Conseil des bibliothèques universitaires de l’Ontario (OCUL, en anglais) ainsi que présidente du CDB ; ainsi que Wei Xuan, bibliothécaire universitaire associé, sciences ouvertes et systèmes (Open Scholarship and Systems) à l’Université du Manitoba, et ancien représentant du conseil des bibliothèques universitaires des Prairies et du Pacifique (Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries, COPPUL, en anglais).

Depuis la création du CDB en 2024, Caroline Hyslop, qui a servi avec dévouement et perspicacité en tant que première représentante d’OCUL et première présidente, a terminé son mandat au sein du comité. Nous lui exprimons notre profonde gratitude pour son leadership réfléchi et ses contributions. Son travail a contribué à façonner l’orientation de notre gouvernance partagée, et sa présence au comité nous manquera. Le comité tient également à remercier et à exprimer sa reconnaissance à Wei Xuan, qui a été partie prenante de cette période cruciale de structuration de la gouvernance de Borealis.

Nous avons le plaisir d’annoncer la nomination de deux nouveaux représentants des consortiums de bibliothèques au CDB : Barbara Kern, bibliothécaire universitaire associée à la bibliothèque de l’Université Queen’s, en tant que nouvelle représentante d’OCUL, et Geoff Harder, bibliothécaire universitaire associé à la bibliothèque de l’Université de l’Alberta, en tant que nouveau représentant du COPPUL. Geoff et Barbara apportent tous deux une riche expérience et un engagement marqué envers les infrastructures de recherche collaboratives, et nous sommes ravis de les accueillir au sein du comité.

De plus, suite à l’annonce que le Groupe d’experts sur Borealis (anciennement Dataverse Nord) assumera le rôle de Conseil consultatif d’experts sur Borealis, nous sommes heureux d’accueillir John Huck, bibliothécaire de métadonnées à la bibliothèque de l’université de l’Alberta, ainsi que Meghan Goodchild, cheffe intérimaire et bibliothécaire, initiatives numériques et érudition ouverte (Digital Initiatives and Open Scholarship Librarian) à la bibliothèque de l’Université Queen’s, en tant que co-présidents du Groupe d’experts sur Borealis. Tous les deux sont fortement engagés avec de nombreuses années d’expérience au sein de la communauté de GDR et du Dataverse au Canada, et nous sommes chanceux de les voir rejoindre le CDB. 

Joignez-vous à nous pour remercier Caroline Hyslop et Wei Xuan pour leur engagement, et pour souhaiter la bienvenue à Barbara Kern, Geoff Harder, John Huck et Meghan Goodchild au sein du Comité directeur de Borealis.

We would like to share important updates regarding changes to the Borealis Steering Committee (BSC).

The BSC would like to send a sincere thank you to its departing members, Caroline Hyslop, Associate University Librarian, Research Services, University of Ottawa and previous Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) representative and Chair of BSC,  and Wei Xuan, Associate University Librarian, Open Scholarship and Systems, University of Manitoba and previous Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries (COPPUL) representative. 

Since the BSC’s formation in 2024, Caroline Hyslop, who has served with dedication and insight as the inaugural OCUL representative and Chair, has concluded her term on the committee and we are deeply grateful to Caroline for her thoughtful leadership and contributions. Her work has helped shape the direction of our shared governance and her presence on the Committee will be missed. The committee also extends our thanks and appreciation to Wei Xuan, who has been part of this important formation period for the Borealis governance. 

We are pleased to announce two new appointed library consortia representatives to the BSC: Barbara Kern, Associate University Librarian, Queen’s University Library, as the new representative for OCUL, and Geoff Harder, Associate University Librarian, University of Alberta Library, as the new representative from COPPUL. Both Geoff and Barbara bring a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to collaborative research infrastructure, and we are excited to welcome them to the committee.

In addition, with the announcement about the Borealis Expert Group (formerly Dataverse North) stepping into the Borealis Expert Advisory Council role, we are pleased to welcome John Huck, Metadata Librarian, University of Alberta Library, and Meghan Goodchild, Interim Head, Digital Initiatives and Open Scholarship Librarian, Queen’s University Library, as the Borealis Expert Group Co-Chairs. Both are highly engaged with years of experience in the RDM and Dataverse community in Canada, and we are fortunate to have them join the BSC.

Please join us in thanking Caroline Hyslop and Wei Xuan for their service, and in welcoming Barbara Kern, Geoff Harder, John Huck, and Meghan Goodchild to the Borealis Steering Committee.
