Testing Pickup Anywhere

After completing the configuration for Pickup Anywhere, it is important to do some quick testing:
Local Hold Request
- Do a search in Omni at your local institution and find a physical item available in your library and eligible for a local hold request (make note of the title of the item)
- As you place a request for the item, click the PICKUP INSTITUTION dropdown and do a quick count of the number of libraries available for you to select (you should see all 16 Omni partner libraries including your own) and choose a different institution than your home institution
- Choose a pickup location at the institution you selected (also note the order of the pickup fields: the first should be 'pickup institution', and the second should be 'pickup location')
- Submit the request and ensure it goes through
- Click on your name in the upper right of Omni and click MY REQUESTS
- Find the request you just placed and cancel it
- You may want to repeat these steps several times for items in several of your fulfillment units to ensure that the PICKUP INSTITUTION and PICKUP LOCATION fields appear for all of them
Resource Sharing Borrowing Request
- Do a search in Omni at your local institution and find a physical item NOT available in your library, but available at another Omni library (make note of the title of the item)
- Click GET IT FROM ANOTHER LIBRARY on the item. As you place a request for the item, click the PREFERRED LOCAL PICKUP LOCATION dropdown and choose a pickup location at your local library
- Click PREFERRED PICKUP INSTITUTION and choose another Omni partner institution. Do a quick count of the number of libraries available for you to select (you should see all 16 Omni partner libraries including your own)
- Choose a PREFERRED PICKUP LOCATION at the institution you selected (also note the order of the pickup fields: the first should be PREFERRED LOCAL PICKUP LOCATION, the second should be 'PREFERRED PICKUP INSTITUTION', and the third should be 'PREFERRED PICKUP LOCATION')
- Submit the request and ensure it goes through
- Click on your name in the upper right of Omni and click MY REQUESTS
- Find the request you just placed and cancel it
