Blocking outgoing ISO requests

To stop requesting of material, you will need to to determine if you wish to fully stop both physical and digital resource sharing, or only stop physical resource sharing, but continue to allow digital resource sharing (the likely option if you use RapidILL).
You may also wish to pause incoming requests, which can be done via the Resource Sharing Directory entry.
Option 1: Fully block all outgoing requests
This process hides the Resource Sharing Request Form entirely, blocking both physical and digital requesting. This is not recommended if you are using RapidILL, unless you are also fully pausing that.
- Login to IZ Alma
- Click on the gear in the lower left
- Click on FULFILLMENT
- Under Discovery Interface Display Logic, click on DISPLAY LOGIC RULES
- Check if you have a rule which is disabled with HIDE RESOURCE SHARING REQUEST in the RULE DESCRIPTION column… if so, you can just flip this rule as ACTIVE and it will hide the RESOURCE SHARING REQUEST for all logged in users
- If you don’t have this rule, create it: Click ADD RULE in the upper right
- You want to create a rule which hides the RESOURCE SHARING REQUEST for all users until we’re ready to launch:
- In the FOR USER FROM GROUPS, leave this blank to apply this rule to ALL users
- In the HIDE SERVICE dropdown, select RESOURCE SHARING REQUEST
- Leave everything else blank
- Click ADD and CLOSE
- You should see the rule at the bottom of the list of INSTITUTION RULES. The RULE DESCRIPTION will be “Hide Service Resource Sharing Request”
- Ensure this rule is ACTIVE
- TEST: Login to PrimovE and place a search for something in the YOUR LIBRARY + OMNI LIBRARIES scope
- Find an item NOT available at your library that is available at another Omni library partner and double-check that you are not presented with the GET IT FROM ANOTHER LIBRARY option.
Option 2: Block outgoing physical requests only
This option will change the Blank Request Form to allow digital requests only. This is recommended if you are using RapidILL, unless you are also fully pausing that.
- Login to IZ Alma
- Click on the gear in the lower left
- Click on DISCOVERY
- Under GetIt Configuration, click on RESOURCE SHARING REQUEST
- Scroll down to the DELIVERY FIELDS section
- UNCHECK the VISIBLE box for FORMAT, and change the default to DIGITAL
- This will hide this option for your users, but it will submit the FORMAT field as DIGITAL with every request, effectively removing the potential for PHYSICAL AFN resource sharing requests, but permitting digital (RapidILL) requesting.
- TEST: Login to PrimoVE and place a search for something in the YOUR LIBRARY + OMNI LIBRARIES scope
- Find an item NOT available at your library that is available at another Omni library partner and double-check that you are presented with the GET IT FROM ANOTHER LIBRARY option, that the FORMAT field does not appear, and that when you submit the request, it shows up as a RapidILL request, and not a physical request
