Enable physical requesting when electronic available

This setting is required to allow the "GetIt" option to show up on records where your patron has access to electronic resources. This option will allow them to try to request physical versions of that resource. This is important for usability and accessibility purposes.

  1. Login to Alma IZ
  2. Click the gear in the lower left (configuration)
  3. Click DISCOVERY
  4. Under OTHER, click CUSTOMER SETTINGS
    1. Find discovery_display_resource_sharing_when_electronic_available
      1. Set the value to true (case sensitive)
  5. Click SAVE in the upper right

If there is concern that articles might be requested physically, there are three options to use:

  1. Configure your blank request form to hide the format field and leave the default type empty, then enable the "Specific Chapter or Pages" checkbox (make visible). This checkbox will default to digital for chapter/pages requests, which typically includes articles.
  2. Configure a display logic rule or general electronic service rule to hide physical requests on articles. This could stop people from requesting physical articles. Ex Libris documentation.
  3. Ensure that the blank request form defaults to digital requests:
    1. Login to IZ Alma
    2. Click Configuration (Gear in the lower left)
    3. Click Discovery
    4. Under GETIT Configuration, click RESOURCE SHARING REQUEST
    5. FORMAT
    6. For the FORMAT field, set the default to DIGITAL
